We’re thrilled to invite you and your organization to join the OF/BY/FOR ALL Change Network as part of the Third Wave. Together, we’re building a global community committed to action, growth, and inclusion.

We’re opening up ten spots in the Third Wave of the Change Network on a first-come, first-served basis to organizations that have been pre-qualified via the readiness check. That means you! Please note that spots are limited and we expect to fill them very quickly.

How does it work?

When your organization joins the Change Network, you’ll embark on a journey to deepen community involvement.

The Change Network program has five parts:

  • A Change Plan that you create to set your intention and goals for deepening community involvement. We’ll provide step-by-step support so you can pick a community of focus and make a plan to meaningfully involve them.

  • Tools and suggested activities to help you make inclusive changes and achieve the goals you set. We keep building our tool bank based on Change Network organizations’ needs, successes, and lessons learned.

  • Progress reports to enable you to be accountable and reflective as you change. Each month, one person from your team will submit a progress report.

  • Coaching to help you navigate the surprises and challenges ahead. You’ll have up to four, 1:1 coaching calls with an OF/BY/FOR ALL Community Catalyst to review your progress on your Change Plan.

  • Community of Practice to connect you with smart, dedicated people at other organizations around the world who are striving towards similar goals. Everyone on your team is invited to join the OF/BY/FOR ALL private social network, and we also host an annual in-person retreat for Change Network members.

When does it start and how long does it last?

The Third Wave will start on September 23, 2019. You’ll pay for a one-year program, with the opportunity to renew annually thereafter.

While you can treat the Change Network program as a one-year launchpad for inclusion, we encourage you to consider it as an ongoing process without an end date. Making your institution more inclusive isn’t something you can do on a prescribed schedule. Most committed organizational teams continue to improve their work—and their outcomes—over a series of years. Just like joining a gym, you will grow stronger over time if you stick with it.

The Change Network program starts with a structured series of activities to help your team map new communities you’d like to engage, pick one, get to know them, and create a Change Plan to meaningfully involve them. Once your team has created your Change Plan, our staff will provide you with tools tailored to your goals to help you achieve them.

At the same time, you’ll be part of the community of practice - a private online social network where you can chat with other changemakers, participate in monthly videocall workshops, and support each other in growth and change. In addition to digital community-building, we’ll hold an in-person Change Network retreat in Miami in February 2020 for all members who would like to attend.

Who’s it for?

The Third Wave is for civic and cultural organizations of all sizes, sectors, and locations. Based on our pilot work with 37 First and Second Wave organizations, we feel confident it can work for you whether you run a tiny theater company, a multi-branch public library, a volunteer park commission, or a national museum. We are accepting ten organizations at this time. We expect this will be our last wave of 2019, with future waves to start in early 2020.

You will get the most out of this opportunity if:

  • You feel urgent desire to involve new communities as participants, partners, and leaders.

  • You are ready to commit staff time and resources to new ways of working.

  • Your team is comfortable with online tools and excited about online learning.

  • You have support of organizational leaders and/or board members.

What does it cost?

The year-long Change Network program fee is on a sliding scale based on your organization’s budget size. This is a one-time fee for the first 12 months, paid by your organization. You can involve as many individual team members at your organization as you would like as long as they are working together on one team towards a shared Change Plan.

Note: the fees listed below are for organizations in the global North with non-POCI leaders. If your organization is in the global South and/or has POCI leadership, the fee is reduced. Contact us to learn more.

Need help making the case to participate? Here are five ways to talk about this program with funders or leaders to help them get excited about its value.

What do I need?

  • Step 1: Assemble your team. You need at least 3-5 people from your organization (staff, board, and/or volunteers) to commit to this work to be successful. You’ll appoint one “team champion” to coordinate your work. The best teams are cross-functional and cross-disciplinary, including people from programming, fundraising, marketing, and the executive team.

  • Step 2: Make the Commitment. To join the Third Wave, you’ll need time to meet as a team and to do the work with your community. In general, team champions spend 4 hours per week on Change Network activities, with all other team members spending 1-2 hours per week.

  • Step 3: Register. Registration is open until all ten spots in the Third Wave are filled.
