Come to Bootcamp

Dive into a 2-day crash course in building a strong community organization.

Want to open your organization to your community? At this hands-on training, you’ll learn the theory and practice of how to do so–and how to make your organization more relevant, vibrant, valued, and sustainable along the way.

OF/BY/FOR ALL Bootcamp is led by Nina Simon, Lauren Benetua, and Mateo Mossey, rooted in lessons learned from hundreds of community projects. Get inspired. Get new tools. Get ready to involve your community on a deeper level.

More about the program

OF/BY/FOR ALL bootcamp is open to teams from public-serving organizations of any size, location, or type. This bootcamp is designed for working professionals seeking to implement community participation in your organization or program. We have welcomed campers from theaters, cultural centers, museums, libraries, refugee centers, national parks, historic sites, zoos, and many diverse community, civic, and cultural sites.

Your team of 2-5 people may include staff, volunteers, trustees, and/or partners. We ask you to attend in teams because you’ll be most effective at leading change if you have colleagues alongside you. We believe if you want go far, you go together.

We welcome 20-25 teams from organizations around the world to each bootcamp, with no more than 150 participants in total.

I am taking home a new way of thinking about myself and the change that I can make with my organization and my communities.
Wow! Thank you for leading the movement and breaking this down into a tangible, doable, yet flexible structure that can be scaled and customized. The vision is powerful and the path is clear!

Come to this two-day bootcamp to:

  • Articulate your goals for community participation at your organization.

  • Map your community’s assets and needs and how they align with your goals.

  • Get a crash course in social capital theory and ways of measuring community participation.

  • Develop compelling, powerful participatory offers and promises for your prospective partners.

  • Gain new community involvement tools you can take home and adapt to your organization.

  • Make a pledge to involve specific communities in building a stronger and more resilient future.

  • Connect with diverse colleagues who can help you as you continue your journey.

  • Get inspired, laugh out loud, and share honest lessons from the messy, joyful world of community participation.

At the end of Bootcamp, we invite all teams to make a pledge to involve a specific community in the months to come. Teams are invited to consider continuing their OF/BY/FOR ALL journey in the Change Network, an intensive online program offering tools, community, coaching, and accountability to help you fulfill your pledge.

I have a concrete plan, focused conviction, and inspired energy to take the necessary steps to create real change in my organization.
We are taking home several important team insights that we were finding it hard to arrive at inside of the office.

Bootcamp Fee

You pay for bootcamp in teams rather than as individuals. The fee to register is $2500 USD (or 3300 CAD) per team. Teams can be anywhere from 2-5 people, and you can designate the participating individuals later if needed. If you are traveling to bootcamp from another city, you will need to pay for accommodation and travel on your own. We do offer recommended hotels with discounts where possible.
